MSK Specialist/Consultant Radiologist

Overall Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Diagnostic Imaging Department, the Specialist/Consultant Radiologist will required to provide a high standard of individualized medical care based on current best-practice guidelines to guests and their families, and take an active role in working within multidisciplinary teams.

Interpret all imaging procedures independently in a fast-paced environment in all Diagnostic Imaging Areas (i.e., MRI, CT, General Radiography) ensuring patient safety and care is of optimum level.

The Specialist/Consultant Radiologist provides appropriate patient care and supports members of the Diagnostic Imaging Department and performs their duties in accordance to their signed clinical privilege.

Main Responsibilities

  • Interpreting and performing all or some of the following studies: fluoroscopy, ultrasound, radioisotopes, CT, and MRI scanning within the limits of their experience and clinical privileges.
  • General clinical duties of a Specialist Radiologist
  • Perform specific radiological procedures as designated.
  • Continuous medical support to all medical caregivers in the team.
  • Leads educational and training programs for employees regarding equipment usage, new protocols, patient safety, and career development
  • Leads programs for performance improvement, efficiency and productivity, employee engagement and patient experience
  • Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care.
  • Double checks and confirms patient’s details in RIS/PACS before starting the procedure Ensures that a safe environment is maintained during diagnostic imaging exams
  • Maintain an appropriate level of continuous professional development as per DOH/DHA guidelines.
  • Support to improve the operational systems, service processes and policies in support of the hospital mission; specifically support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
  • Liaise with Diagnostic Imaging team and clinical caregivers on the suitability of clinical equipment and inventory supplies.
  • Assists with service improvements in the operational systems and service processes.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest modern developments.
  • Promote effective communication strategies and maintain good interdepartmental liaison.

  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of safety policies and procedures; working according to safety rules and regulations as set by the organization towards a safe working environment.

Education

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent primary qualification.

Experience

  • Fellowship in MSK from Europe, Canada, USA or equal.
  • Completion of 5 Years Structured Radiology Training from a DOH/ DHA recognized institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a diagnostic imaging department after completion of radiology training.
  • 2 Years experienced in a JCIA facility is desirable.

Certification and Licensure

  • DOH / DHA / MOH license
  • BLS
  • FRCR, FCPS, DABR, CCT or equivalent.
  • ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty is preferred

Professional Membership

  • RSNA, ACR, ESSR or ARRS is desirable.

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.
  • Maintain knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging trends and education and Evidence Based Practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Being able to speak in Arabic would be preferred.
