Healthpoint Nurses recognized for outstanding patient care with unprecedented 166 ‘DAISY Award’ nominations

The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses is a globally renowned recognition program that seeks to reward the tireless and exceptional efforts by nurses at healthcare centers around the world. The Award organizers have stated that, to their knowledge, this is the highest ever volume of nominations for nurses from any hospital, anywhere in the world.

“Our nurses are the backbone of our organization, who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and service to our patients, day in and day out. They are the ones who drive our patient-centric approach, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our high quality of care without them. The DAISY Awards are globally renowned and highly prestigious, and serve as the perfect way to show our nurses how much we appreciate their unwavering contribution,” said Dr. José Lopez, Chief Executive Officer of Healthpoint.

“In our experience, we have never witnessed a hospital receive so many nominations in such a short span of time – just one single week. We’re very impressed by the caliber, compassion and support of the staff, and particularly the nurses at Healthpoint,” said Melissa Barnes, Vice President Operations and Regional Program Director of DAISY Foundation.

“These awards are not only aimed at saying ‘Thank you’ to nurses, but also seek to enhance their job satisfaction, retention, teamwork, sense of pride, organizational culture, and maintain a healthy work environment. Meaningful recognition is a way of boosting nurses’ morale, and reminding them why they chose to enter nursing,” added Melissa.

About DAISY Foundation and Awards:

An acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, The DAISY Foundation was formed in November 1999, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received when hospitalized profoundly touched his family who established The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses as a global recognition program, to honor ‘the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day”, and to thank them for their tireless efforts.
