Dr. Khalil Afsh is a Consultant in Lipidology and Phlebology with over ten years’ experience. He is among the very few trained and American Board-certified Clinical Lipidologists and Phlebologists in the region.
Dr Afsh is American trained, with multiple American board certifications, including venous & lymphatic medicine, lipidology, and internal medicine. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his training in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York, Syracuse, before undertaking training as a Fellow in Hematology/Oncology at the University of California, in San Diego. Later Dr. Afsh was trained and American Boarded in Clinical Lipidology and Phlebology in the United States where he practiced in those specialties.
Dr Afsh’s special interests include clinical lipidology and cardiovascular risk assessment, familial hypercholesterolemia, venous reflux disease, chronic venous disease, and stem cell therapy. He has held many leadership positions in his fields in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. With clinical expertise in lipidology and phlebology, he focuses on cardiovascular risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of venous disease using evidence-based medicine.
Clinical and research expertise in the United States established Dr Afsh as a key opinion leader on novel treatments of hyperlipidemia, and he has been active in research in that field. He also serves on the scientific advisory boards of multiple institutions in the United States in the fields of stem cells and others.
